£4m crane investment marks launch of new Aberdeen division for Port Services
The successful launch of a new Aberdeen division by Port Services (Invergordon) Ltd is being reinforced by a £4m investment in a giant mobile crane to service the oil and gas sectors.
The new company, Port Services (Aberdeen) Ltd, has been set up by the Invergordon based logistics specialist in recognition of its rapidly expanding operations in the north east.
Services offered by the company, which will operate out of a new three-acre facility in Altens East, include heavy lifting, project management, transport, and port management and marine services.
The new £4m heavy lift strut crane will be based at the Aberdeen site, and according to managing director Steve Clark, it will offer greatly enhanced lifting capabilities.
“This is the first time that a crane of this capability has been located in north east Scotland,” he said.
The crane – a 1000 tonne class Terex Demag TC2800-1 – is the largest mobile lifting machine currently produced by specialist German crane manufacturer Demag.
“Our core business is serving the oil and gas industry and we intend to dedicate this machine to this sector,” said Steve Clark.
“We believe the purchase of this mobile heavy lifting machine will further strengthen our position in the marketplace and allow Port Services to offer even more innovative, time saving and economical solutions to our clients.”
The Aberdeen facility will be further boosted by the arrival of a new £2m 500 tonne class crane that will be delivered by the end of the year and three new 100 tonne cranes.
